Purpose of the exchange
- Venue: MS Teams, take the instructions from the GIZ/ Secretariat invitation
- Purpose of the exchange: On 30-Apr-2020, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Energy Community Secretariat (ECS) initiated the first Regional Exchange of Modelling Experts to support the ongoing modelling work required for the development of NECPs of Energy Community Contracting Parties (CPs) in the Western Balkans. This series of exchanges has aimed to build up modelling capacity for integrated energy and climate planning.
Various participants of the Regional Exchange of NECP Modellers leverage on the Low Emissions Analysis Platform (LEAP) developed at the Stockholm Environment Institute. Therefore, during the 11th session under this series (19-Dec-2021), the majority of participants decided to create a LEAP User Group, which would facilitate a discussion of topics specific to modeling with LEAP in the NECP context.
- Format of the LEAP User Group: The LEAP User Group is open to all participants of the Regional Exchange of Modelling Experts. Participants might also forward invitations to colleagues, for whom specific sessions might be interesting. During the 12th session of the Regional Exchange (15-Jan-2022), the majority of participants agreed to open the LEAP User Group up for participation of Croatia’s NECP Team from the Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar for the purpose of exchanging experience in the region. The LEAP User Group should be primarily seen as a peer learning format. Short inputs will be provided by experts such as from Fraunhofer ISI, while participants should be ready to share their experiences with LEAP or alternative tools on the topics. The first exchange of the LEAP User Group will take place on 24-Feb-2022 (agenda below). After the first four exchanges, the LEAP User Group will decide its further proceeding.
