Ukraine Energy Support Fund reaches EUR 1 billion as attacks on energy infrastructure intensify
The Energy Community Secretariat is proud to announce that the Ukraine Energy Support Fund (UESF) has reached a major milestone, surpassing EUR 1 billion in pledges from 30 donors, including 6 companies and non-state organisations. This achievement reflects the unwavering commitment of the international community to support Ukraine’s energy sector amidst continuous Russian attacks on its infrastructure.
The first contribution of EUR 535,000 was made by Denmark in 2022 when the Fund was established, marking the beginning of a collaborative effort to mitigate the devastating impact of the war of aggression against Ukraine. So far, Germany leads donations with EUR 390,497,804, followed by the European Union with EUR 159,000,000 and Sweden with EUR 139,440,230
The Energy Community Secretariat extends its deep gratitude to all the donors whose generosity and trust have made this milestone possible. Donors’ support has been crucial in delivering timely assistance to restore and strengthen Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The Ukraine Energy Support Fund remains a beacon of hope, offering a reliable and impactful channel for countries, organisations, and donors to provide vital aid.
As of 16 December 2024, the 56 Ukrainian beneficiaries have concluded 644 contracts based on support granted via the Fund, based on 188 Support Requests approved by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine. In accordance with those contracts, the Fund has released 1133 payments based on the invoices issued by the suppliers. As of the referenced date, there are 211 vendors supplying goods under the concluded contracts, over 80% of which are of Ukrainian origin. Equipment supplied based on these contracts are reaching 21 regions of Ukraine.
As attacks on Ukraine’s energy system intensify, the Fund will continue to play a critical role in rebuilding damaged infrastructure and securing reliable energy supplies for Ukraine’s citizens during these challenging times.
