

Energy Community Presidency: Georgia’s priorities for 2025
Georgia has officially taken over the Presidency of the Energy Community for 2025, reinforcing its commitment to regional energy cooperation, security, and sustainability. As the new presiding country, Georgia will steer the Energy Community’s agenda, focusing on advancing energy market reforms, enhancing regional integration, and accelerating the clean energy transition.
Genadi Arveladze, Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, emphasized the country’s dedication to fostering a resilient and sustainable energy sector. “Georgia is honored to assume the Presidency of the Energy Community. This is not only a responsibility but also an opportunity to encourage regional cooperation, strengthen energy security, and advance the process of transition to green energy.”
Artur Lorkowski, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, welcomed Georgia’s new role, stating: “We look forward to working closely with Georgia as it takes over the Presidency at this crucial time for the Energy Community. As we mark our 20th anniversary, Georgia’s leadership will be instrumental in advancing the energy transition, strengthening market integration, and driving forward sustainable energy policies.”
Under Georgia’s leadership, the Energy Community will continue to align with EU energy and climate policies, ensuring that Contracting Parties make tangible progress in achieving their decarbonization and energy security objectives. Key priorities for the Georgian Presidency include fostering electricity market development, enhancing energy efficiency measures, and strengthening regional cooperation in renewable energy deployment.
Georgia takes over the Presidency from Bosnia and Herzegovina and will chair the Energy Community Ministerial Council and key working groups throughout the year. The Energy Community Secretariat looks forward to supporting Georgia in implementing its ambitious agenda and furthering regional energy cooperation.
