Energy Community Secretariat Director Artur Lorkowski completed a two-day visit to Albania (17-18 March) to discuss the acceleration of electricity market integration.
During his visit, he presented the findings of the 2024 Implementation Report to the Committee on Productive Activity, Trade, and Environment in the Assembly of Albania, stressing the urgency of transposing critical legislative frameworks, such as the Electricity Integration Package, to strengthen Albania’s connectivity with the EU energy market before the country’s full EU membership.
Mr Lorkowski met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Environment, Sofjan Jaupaj, and board members of the Albanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ERE), including Petrit Ahmetaj. Discussions focused on the policy steps needed to accelerate market reforms.
He also engaged with key energy sector stakeholders, including Enea Karakaci, CEO of the Electricity Distribution Operator (OSHEE), and Elisian Bici, CEO of the Transmission System Operator (OST), to address investment needs and the next steps in Albania’s energy transition.
