ECRB publishes unit investment cost indicators for energy infrastructure
The Energy Community Regulatory Board (ECRB) has published its first indicators on Unit Investment Costs (UIC) for energy infrastructure categories. This initiative, developed in line with the requirements of the Energy Community TEN-E Regulation, promotes greater transparency and comparability in infrastructure planning across the Energy Community.
The UIC indicators are based on investment data collected through the ECRB members. Following a common methodology, the data has been inflation-adjusted to April 2025 values to ensure consistency. The results reflect average costs for key infrastructure categories such as overhead lines, substations, transformers, and variable shunt reactors.
The indicators aim to support more informed cost assessments for infrastructure projects and facilitate alignment with EU practices. For reference, the publication also includes a summary of ACER’s UIC indicators for the EU, enabling broader comparisons and offering complementary infrastructure categories.
The ECRB will continue to update and expand these benchmarks in collaboration with national regulators, ensuring the dataset remains relevant for future project evaluations under the Energy Community TEN-E framework.
