Director Lorkowski visits Belgrade to advance energy reforms
On 14 and 15 May, Artur Lorkowski, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, visited Serbia for high-level meetings focused on advancing energy reforms and the accelerated integration with the EU markets.
In the meeting with Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović, Director Lorkowski welcomed Serbia’s adoption of the amended Energy Law and progress with renewable energy auctions. He stressed the need for close cooperation with the Secretariat in particular in electricity market coupling and gas sector unbundling.
Addressing the Committee on Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy at the National Assembly, Director Lorkowski emphasized the need for sustained follow-through: “Serbia has made important legislative progress. The priority now is full implementation—to ensure accelerated integration with the EU, open markets, fair competition, and tangible results for consumers.”
Director Lorkowski also met with Energy Agency President Dejan Popović to discuss regulatory developments, and with EU Ambassador Emanuele Giaufret to exchange views on Serbia’s integration with the EU as supported by Reform Agenda. He also opened the Belgrade Energy Forum 2025, where he underlined the importance of continued efforts in advancing Southeast Europe’s clean energy transition and integration.
