Building on 20 Years of Cooperation for the Energy EU Integration Ahead: Energy Community Celebrates in Athens

2024 Ukraine Energy Support Fund Annual Report

As a part of its reporting commitment and transparency approach, the Energy Community Secretariat publishes the 2024 Ukraine Energy Support Fund (Fund) Annual Report, presenting a year of unprecedented growth, efficient operational delivery, and strengthened international cooperation. Thanks to support from 33 donors — including governments, international organisations, and private companies — the Fund has now surpassed EUR 1 billion in contributions, making possible a sustained and targeted response to urgent needs.

Unlocking Trans-Balkan Pipeline System

This study underscores the strategic potential of the reopened Trans-Balkan Pipeline (TBP) as a vital north-south corridor for delivering LNG, Caspian gas, and hub-based volumes into Ukraine, Moldova, and beyond. It also offers a timely and relevant input for developing a compliant, coordinated solution ahead of the next gas year. Yet capacity remains underused due to high transport costs, regulatory and tariff unpredictability, lack of firm capacity at key points, and fragmented, uncoordinated access rules.

The Energy Community Secretariat, in partnership with The Nature Conservancy (TNC), has released the Operational Blueprint: Designation of Renewables Acceleration Areas, a comprehensive guide to identifying and designating priority areas for renewable energy development while minimizing environmental and social conflicts. It introduces a step-by-step methodology for mapping low-conflict areas for solar and wind energy deployment. It builds on TNC’s smart sitting approach, ensuring that renewable energy expansion aligns with sustainability goals and biodiversity protection.

2024 Implementation report
